Report from George Markie
27 th October 1979, and following months, Cannich, Inverness-shire
At about 2.00 pm on 27 October 1979, a neighbour of Miss Chisholm, Mr Ted Noble of Kerrow Farm, was on the open hillside collecting his sheep when he spotted an animal, which he first mistook for a hind, near some Shetland ponies. Puzzled by its apparent crouched position he watched it. It got up and ran a few yards towards the ponies and the crouched down again in typical stalking manner. He realised that the creature was of the cat family and thought it was a lioness because of its size and tawny colour. He immediately reported his sighting to the police. The following day a search of the hillside and surrounding area was carried out but nothing was found. 27 th October 1979 and following months
Over the next few months Mr Noble and his sister-in-law caught glimpses of a similar animal on three occasions.
