From Scottish Mystery Cat Sightings By Ronnie Patterson
According to reports an early sighting of a puma type animal was reported by Mrs E.Hall, who saw the animal at a farm in Whitbun, West Lothian where she and her husband used to live, Mrs Hall said: "Some time after seven in the evening of a summer night in 1973, I was at the window when I saw what I believe was a puma walk through the farm yard. It was bigger than an Alsatian dog, light brown in colour and had a square-shaped head. I ran out and followed it for a mile over the country, I thought it may have escaped from a circus van. I gave it no more thought until I heard of sightings in the North of Scotland and reports of sheep being killed."
